The church is led by three elders.
Richard Brown
Richard, with his wife Sandra, (to whom he has been married for 51 years), moved to Cambourne in 2016 to help support the new church plant. This was not exactly what they had planned over 5 years into retirement but they soon discovered God had other ideas!
Having originally trained as a mechanical and then a computer engineer, Richard has spent most of his working life in training in the engineering and manufacturing sectors albeit he has spent nearly 40 years in part time church leadership and ministry. He first trusted the Lord Jesus over 53 years ago when he first heard the gospel.
With 2 children, Rebecca and Matthew, and 5 grandchildren, (eldest aged 21), Richard now likes to keep active by gardening, building things for the garden and walking and cycling when time permits.
Ben Twiss
Ben helped to plant Christ Church Cambourne in 2016, and continues to serve as the full time pastor. Having grown up an atheist Ben came to believe the claims of Jesus after a friend gave him a copy of Mark's gospel to read!
Ben loved working as a secondary school teacher for seven years. He then trained for ministry with St Neots Evangelical church whilst attending Oak Hill theological college.
Ben is married to Suzy, and they have three children, Grace, Joel, and Evie. He enjoys a really good coffee (with cake!), the occasional run, and reading biographies.
Matt Baalham
Matt grew up in a home where the gospel was believed and taught and became a Christian himself at a young age. He moved to Cambourne in 2021 to start a new job as librarian at Tyndale House in Cambridge, a specialist research centre for biblical studies.
Matt has been a librarian for over twenty years in a variety of places in London, County Durham, and Wiltshire. He is married to Clare and they have three children living at home.
Matt grew up near the Lake District and still enjoys the countryside and the odd swim up there when visiting family. He also tries to maintain his interest in all things historical and plays the violin if he gets a spare moment.
On a Sunday the whole church family meets together at 10.45am for Bible teaching, singing, prayer, and time together over tea and coffee.
You can come as you are - there is no dress code for church! There is also no pressure for you to join in with any of the service if you simply wanted to observe and find out more about Jesus!
We meet at The Cambourne Campus of the Hardwick and Cambourne Community Primary School, next to Cambourne Village College. You will receive a warm welcome at the front door where a member of the church will show you where you need to go.
Our service will begin at 10.45am and last about an hour and a half. We are all together for the first part of the service. After about half an hour children go to different groups where they receive age appropriate Bible teaching delivered by a dedicated team of helpers, all of whom have been DBS checked. Refreshments are normally available after the service.
Please do come along. We would love to see you!
There is plenty of parking at Cambourne Village College.
About us
Christ Church Cambourne is a church based in the village of Cambourne, 10 miles west of Cambridge. We meet every Sunday at the Cambourne Campus of Hardwick and Cambourne Community Primary School, next to Cambourne Village College. We’d love you to come along!
We are a group of ordinary people, of varied ages and nationalities, who believe the message of Jesus Christ is the best news in the world, available to everyone.
Our vision is that we are a local church of God’s people, who are aiming to love Jesus, love one another and love our community. We want to do this by proclaiming this good news of Jesus Christ.
Christ Church Cambourne is led by a small leadership team and is part of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC). Our ‘Statement of Faith’ briefly outlines what we believe as a church.
We are spending time each Sunday morning looking at the book of Mark in the Bible. Mark is one of the 4 Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), which are eyewitness accounts of Jesus’ life.
The video below gives a great introduction to both the book of Mark and who Jesus is.
If you would like to know more about Jesus, we would love to answer any questions you may have.
