Leadership

Ben Twiss, Elder

Ben helped to plant Christ Church Cambourne in 2016 and continues to serve as the full-time pastor. Having grown up an atheist Ben came to believe the claims of Jesus after a friend gave him a copy of Mark's gospel to read!

Ben loved working as a secondary school teacher for seven years. He then trained for ministry with St Neots Evangelical church whilst attending Oak Hill theological college.

Ben is married to Suzy, and they have three children, Grace, Joel, and Evie. He enjoys a really good coffee (with cake!), the occasional run, and reading biographies.

Richard Brown, Elder

Richard, with his wife Sandra, (to whom he has been married for 55 years), moved to Cambourne in 2016 to help support the new church plant. This was not exactly what they had planned over 5 years into retirement, but they soon discovered God had other ideas!

Having originally trained as a mechanical and then a computer engineer, Richard has spent most of his working life in training in the engineering and manufacturing sectors albeit he has spent nearly 40 years in part time church leadership and ministry. He first trusted the Lord Jesus over 57 years ago when he first heard the gospel.

With 2 children, Rebecca, and Matthew, and 5 grandchildren, (eldest aged 24), Richard now likes to keep active by gardening, building things for the garden and walking and cycling when time permits.

Matt Baalham, Elder

Matt grew up in a home where the gospel was believed and taught and became a Christian himself at an early age. He moved to Cambourne in 2021 to start a new job as librarian at Tyndale House in Cambridge, a specialist research centre for biblical studies.

Matt has been a librarian for over twenty years in a variety of places in London, County Durham, and Wiltshire. He is married to Clare, and they have three children living at home.

Matt grew up near the Lake District and still enjoys the countryside and the odd swim up there when visiting family. He also tries to maintain his interest in all things historical and plays the violin if he gets a spare moment.

Stephen Robinson, Safeguarding Lead

Stephen moved to Cambourne in 2015, a few months before the core group started meeting with the intention of planting a new church in Cambourne. He is passionate about being involved in a local church, and was delighted to be part of the planting of a new church to serve Cambourne and the surrounding villages.

He has been a secondary school Computing teacher since 2011. Through his work, he has had a range of safeguarding-related training including Youth Mental Health First Aid and Designated Safeguarding Leader.

Stephen has been married to Kat since 2013 and they have three young children.

Paul Korir, Deacon

Paul grew up in Nairobi, Kenya, where he came to know Christ while in high school. He and his wife Maureen first walked through the Christ Church Cambourne doors in June 2016 and have been part of the fellowship ever since. They have four young children.

Paul has been working for the last nine years as a computational biologist in Hinxton, Cambridge. He is passionate about working with technology and even more excited to use his skills to serve the fellowship.

Kate Fursdon, Deputy Safeguarding Lead

Kate has been a resident of Cambourne since Spring 2004 and she is our church’s Deputy Safeguarding Lead. Kate grew up in a Christian household but she became a Christian at the age of 6 years old, after hearing and responding to the Gospel during a Summer Holiday ‘beach mission’ at her local Church.  Kate was Baptised (Believer’s Baptism) on Easter Day 1989.

Kate is a qualified and practicing Solicitor with a specialisation in Immigration and Nationality law. She qualified in 1997 and runs her own immigration law and advisory company.

Kate is married to Amine and they have two sons: Zak and Joe. She enjoys walking her dogs with her family, running, reading and preparing healthy meals at home.
